The National Emergency – Or Not
Trump announced he was declaring a national emergency to get his wall and wants $8B. So much for the $5.7B! He announced his intentions in a long, rambling speech in the Rose Garden. What the hell? You have to remember this is not new money but has to be taken from somewhere: the military, Puerto Rico, education, FEMA, NASA, or all of them.
This also would set a precedent for every little thing being declared a national emergency like the Space Force, going after certain groups of people, or unpopular programs. This is dangerous.
The US debt has gone up by trillions. We just don’t have the money. We can’t take care of our internal problems like the homeless, infrastructure, education, healthcare, prisons, and much more.
