Man, People Can be Dumb!
The Dumbest Thing I Have Heard In A Day
The Coast Guard’s Employee Support Program put out this list of things – Managing Your Finances During A Furlough – government workers might do to make some money:
Have a garage sale,
Sell your unwanted larger ticket items on newspaper or online,
Walk pets,
Watch children,
House sit,
Tutoring students,
Music lessons,
Mystery shopper,
Create a new budget cutting out unnecessary items,
Going to the library,
Drive for Uber.
The problem is, most Coast Guard employees already do a lot of these things and doing any one will not immediately get you thousands of dollars to pay for your mortgage and food. The person who put together this list might have had good intentions but they don’t have a clue.
The Coast Guard is furloughed/not getting a salary because they are funded by Homeland Security and not the Defense Department. Isn’t it odd that the people dealing with immigrants – Homeland Security – has been cut off by Trump with no salaries?
People who work should get their salary, period.
