Seeing a Doctor When You Need One is a Problem!

This Keeps Getting Better & Better

I finally got my very own, referral from my primary care doctor at Presbyterian and one of the things she ordered was a real doctor to read my scans. Sounds reasonable.

So, I called the phone number on the referral to make an appointment with a gastronenterologist to discuss my scans. SURPRISE! When I called they said a nurse or someone (janitor, secretary) would read my scans and if it were important some, unknown person, get back to me. NO APPOINTMENT ALLOWED! The fact of the matter is, I did not pay for a nurse or some unknown person to read my scans and the primary care doctor didn’t order that either.

I had the scans and got a copy. John Hopkins said they will review them and that is a good option. As I closed this out, the head of the gastro Department has scheduled to see me Thursday. What do they say about squeaky wheels? But still nothing about the poor woman’s medical history I have and HIPAA. I guess breaking the law and concern about patients is not a big deal.

This is what medical insurance has come to in the United States. Aren’t we lucky to pay for this!
